Pejman''s work demonstrates a romantic realism, typical of his scenes painted at Lake Como, Capri, Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast. In this scene we see a path along the water front among a multitude of nearby villa gardens. Surrounded by mountains and centered on a large beautiful lake, the entire region has some of the most beautiful old villas in this part of Italy. The poplar pines and the abundance of flowers create a lovely setting. The town of Verena is nestled along the lake of glacial origin in Lombardy. Lake Como has been a retreat of famous aristocrats and royalty for many centuries for its offerings of a beautiful lakeside amidst the mountains.
