History:

The 36-rater Pen Duick, initially launched as Yum, was built in 1898 in Cork Harbour, Ireland, under the design of Scotsman William Fife III. Known as a successful racer, it was owned by Eric Tabarly''s father when Eric was a child. After World War II, Éric convinced his father to give him the boat, later restoring it with a new fiberglass hull. Tragically, he fell overboard and was lost in the Irish Sea in 1998 while sailing to the Fife Regatta.
