Description

This panoramic photograph of New York was taken by James Blakeway. It features a spectacular twilight view of lower Manhattan across the East River. Shown is the world famous Brooklyn Bridge and the 110 story twin towers of the World Trade Center. Lower Manhattan, in which Wall Street is located, is known as the financial capitol of the United States. In the distant far left is the Statue of Liberty which was given to the United States as a gift from France. The Brooklyn Bridge, built in 1869, is the first steel-wire suspension bridge in the world. It spans the East River, linking the boroughs of the Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York City.
